What is Slang words ?
Slang एक अनौपचारिक
(Informal) रजिस्टर की भाषा अर्थात शब्द (Word), वाक्यांश (Phrase) या उपयोग (Usage) है जो किसी विशिष्ट समूह की पहचान के लिए मानक भाषा (Standard
language) के सामान्य शब्दावली (Common vocabulary ) को पसंद करती है| इसकी शुरुआत 18वीं सदी से ही प्रारंभ
हो चुका था | शुरुआत 1756 में यह निम्न (Low) और विवादास्पद ( Disreputable) लोगों की बोली मानी जाती
थी लेकिन 19वीं सदी तक ये Standard Educated लोगों की
Speech बन चुकी है |इसकी
उत्पत्ति कब और कैसे हुई यह अभी भी अनिश्चित (Uncertain) है परंतु
इसे चोरों की भाषा (Thives cant ) से जुड़ा माना जाता है| भाषाविदों
(Linguists) ने इसकी कोई सरल और स्पष्ट परिभाषा नहीं दी है| लेकिन
इसे हर उप संस्कृति (Sub-Culture) में मौजूद लगातार बदलती भाषाई घटना (Linguistic phenomenon) माना है| यह औपचारिक भाषा
(Formal language ), लेखन के गरिमा (Dignity of
writing ) के विपरीत होता है जो किसी ऐसे समूह जो इन शब्दावलियों से
परिचित हो के मध्य उपयोग किए जाने वाले शब्द
है, जो उच्च सामाजिक स्थिति (Higher social status ) वाले लोगों
के लिए वर्जित शब्द ( Taboo words ) है| इसलिए यह विशिष्ट सामाजिक
संदर्भों ( Specific social contexts ) के कारण औपचारिक उपयोग
में अनुपयुक्त ( Inappropriate ) तथा अपमानजनक(
Derogative ) भी माना जाता है| Slang की तुलना
में बोलचाल की भाषा ( Coloquial ) मानक उपयोग (
Standard use) में अधिक स्वीकार्य ( Acceptable ) और अपेक्षित (Requisite) माना जाता है| Slang समय के साथ सामान्य शब्दावली में
स्वीकार हो जाती है और कभी-कभी इसे अलग करना भी मुश्किल हो जाता
है, जैसे-- नकली (Spurious) और जोरदार (Strenuous) शब्द पहले Slang Words था, अब इसे सामान्य
शब्द स्वीकार कर लिया गया है| फिर भी किसी शब्द को Slang माना
जाए या नहीं ये इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि क्या यह अकादमिक (Academic) या कानूनी सेटिंग (Legal
Setting) में स्वीकार्य होगा |
चूँकि Slang words written language तो है नहीं, यह केवल भाषाई घटना ( Phenomenon
of speech ) है इसलिए इसकी Etymologies (व्युत्पत्ति)
collect करना कठिन है|
यदि संक्षिप्त में कहें तो यह एक
ऐसी बोली है जो अक्सर अलग-अलग उप-संस्कृतियों में केवल एक गुट
या समूह के मध्य बोली जाती है जो उनके समूह की पहचान या उनके सामाजिक स्थान को रेखांकित
करती है तथा Slang words हर समय बदलती रहती
है|

Ghanta----------- it expresses disbelief or nonsense or rubbish
Usage:- He says he owns two luxury cars, Ghanta.
Oye--------hey, but among close pals,oye is
interchangeable with your friends’ names or used to grab the attention of
someone who is younger than you.
Usage:- Oye,whats up?
Vella --------- a person who is the lazy or
useless at most things or loser
Usage:- instead of lying, Vella, you should try
getting a job.
Pataka --------- an attractive girl
Usage:- Roma was looking Pataka yesterday.
Pakau
--------- a very annoying or boring person
Usage:- He just wouldn't
stop blabbering nonsense. What a pakau.

kya--------- it is a threat to beat someone
Usage:- Stop annoying me, deun kya ?
Dhinchak
--------- a person who tries to show a lot of swag or anything that too flashy
or bling
Usage:- He tries to be dhinchak but comes across as
too tacky.
Achcha yaar----- OK Friends
Usage:- Achcha

Bakwaas-----Nonsense,you mean that you consider it to be untrue or
silly.
Usage:- He
was just doing bakwaas; his fundas are ridiculous. Don't get into his chakkar.
Arre Baap re baap----Expressing astonishment fear etc.
Usage:- Arre

re baap -------- oh my God or used in the extraordinary situations
