What is Slang words ?

 

                   Slang एक अनौपचारिक (Informal) रजिस्टर की भाषा अर्थात शब्द (Word), वाक्यांश (Phrase) या उपयोग (Usage) है जो किसी विशिष्ट समूह की पहचान के लिए मानक भाषा (Standard language) के सामान्य शब्दावली (Common vocabulary ) को पसंद करती है| इसकी शुरुआत 18वीं सदी से ही प्रारंभ हो चुका था | शुरुआत 1756 में यह निम्न (Low) और विवादास्पद ( Disreputable) लोगों की बोली मानी जाती थी लेकिन 19वीं सदी तक ये  Standard Educated लोगों की Speech  बन चुकी है |इसकी उत्पत्ति कब और कैसे हुई यह अभी भी अनिश्चित (Uncertain) है परंतु इसे चोरों की भाषा (Thives cant ) से जुड़ा माना जाता है| भाषाविदों (Linguists) ने इसकी कोई सरल और स्पष्ट परिभाषा नहीं दी है| लेकिन इसे हर उप संस्कृति  (Sub-Culture) में मौजूद लगातार बदलती भाषाई घटना (Linguistic phenomenon) माना है| यह औपचारिक भाषा  (Formal language ), लेखन के गरिमा (Dignity of writing ) के विपरीत होता है जो किसी ऐसे समूह जो इन शब्दावलियों से परिचित हो के  मध्य उपयोग किए जाने वाले शब्द है, जो उच्च सामाजिक स्थिति  (Higher social status ) वाले लोगों के लिए वर्जित शब्द ( Taboo words ) है| इसलिए यह विशिष्ट सामाजिक संदर्भों ( Specific social contexts ) के कारण औपचारिक उपयोग में अनुपयुक्त ( Inappropriate ) तथा अपमानजनक( Derogative ) भी माना जाता है| Slang की तुलना में बोलचाल की भाषा ( Coloquial ) मानक उपयोग ( Standard use) में अधिक स्वीकार्य ( Acceptable ) और अपेक्षित (Requisite)  माना जाता है| Slang समय के साथ सामान्य शब्दावली में स्वीकार हो जाती है और कभी-कभी इसे अलग करना भी मुश्किल हो जाता है, जैसे-- नकली (Spurious) और जोरदार (Strenuous) शब्द पहले Slang Words  था, अब इसे  सामान्य शब्द स्वीकार कर लिया गया है| फिर भी किसी शब्द को Slang माना जाए या नहीं ये इस बात पर निर्भर करता है कि क्या यह अकादमिक (Academic) या कानूनी सेटिंग     (Legal Setting) में स्वीकार्य होगा |

           चूँकि Slang words written language तो है नहीं, यह केवल भाषाई घटना ( Phenomenon of speech ) है इसलिए इसकी Etymologies (व्युत्पत्ति) collect करना कठिन है|

 यदि संक्षिप्त में कहें तो यह एक ऐसी बोली है जो अक्सर अलग-अलग उप-संस्कृतियों में केवल एक गुट या समूह के मध्य बोली जाती है जो उनके समूह की पहचान या उनके सामाजिक स्थान को रेखांकित करती है तथा Slang words हर समय बदलती रहती है|

Indian slang Words:-

Yaar--------dude, mate or bro

Arre yaar --------- used to express anguish.

Usage:-  Arre yaar, I lift my purse.

Abbey yaar-------- conveys annoyance

 Usage:- Abbe yaar stop getting on my nerves.

Waat lag gai ---------- if you are in some serious trouble.

Usage:-  My girlfriend caught me cheating on her waat lag gai.

 Jhakaas --------- fantasticks

Usage:-  I have bought a jhakaas new bike.

Fattu------- a little bit of a wimp

Usage:-  Stop being a fattu and tell the girl that you love her.

Bindaas-------- coolest one who’s unbelievably chilled out at all times and always fun to be around or anything that's great .

Usage:-  I love hanging out with her, she’s totally Bindass.

Jugaad-------- a flexible approach to problem solving that uses limited resources in an innovative way.

Usage:-  How do we carry a goat on a motorbike? Don't worry I have a Jugaad. Or We will do some jugaad.

Ghanta-----------  it expresses disbelief or nonsense or rubbish

Usage:- He says he owns two luxury cars, Ghanta.

 Oye--------hey, but among close pals,oye is interchangeable with your friends’ names or used to grab the attention of someone who is younger than you.

 Usage:-  Oye,whats up?

 Vella --------- a person who is the lazy or useless at most things or loser

 Usage:-  instead of lying, Vella, you should try getting a job.

 Pataka --------- an attractive girl

 Usage:-  Roma was looking Pataka yesterday.

Pakau --------- a very annoying or boring person

Usage:-   He just wouldn't stop blabbering nonsense. What a pakau.

Deun kya---------  it is a threat to  beat someone

 Usage:-   Stop annoying me, deun kya ?

Dhinchak --------- a person who tries to show a lot of swag or anything that too flashy or bling

 Usage:-   He tries to be dhinchak but comes across as too tacky.

Achcha yaar----- OK Friends

Usage:-   Achcha yaar, let's plan that vacation for next summer. Thik hain?

Bakwaas-----Nonsense,you mean that you consider it to be untrue or silly.

Usage:-   He was just doing bakwaas; his fundas are ridiculous. Don't get into his chakkar.

Arre Baap re baap----Expressing astonishment fear etc.

Usage:-   Arre Baap re baap! Today's traffic was ridiculous. Bas, I've.

Baap re baap -------- oh my God or used in the extraordinary situations

Usage:- Today I have seen a snake more than 10 feet long Baap re baap I’ve never seen before.

Chalega -----Whether something will work/that will do. it is used to respond in agreement

Usage:- I have only 500 rupees, will it be sufficient for you, yes chalega. Or Achcha, Uncle Ji. What about this one? Chalega? If you ask me, it looks mast on you.

Yaar ---------- friend or sometimes even strangers who may be shopkeeper or auto rickshaw drivers.

 Usage:- Where you headed, yaar

Achcha ---------- good, I see, ok or really

Usage:- Achcha ,now I understand the matter.

 Theek hai---------- okay ( used with head nod)

 Usage:- Thik hai, I'll be settle it for you.

 Bas----------  that's it or that’s will be all

Usage:-  Bas, it is sufficient.

 Arre----------  when it used in higher tone, it expresses surprise; in a lower tone, it conveys exasperation and when said neutrally it's used to get attention.

Usage:-  Arre; now what shall we do?

 Chakkar ----------- Diziness or a problematic social situations

Usage:-  That girl and boy are having a Chakkar.

 Funda---------  ideas

Usage:-  Your  fundas are always different.

 Bakbak------------ this is used when the listener has no interest in what the other person or group is chating about

 Usage:- You are doing too much bakbak, please stop.

 Mast----------  it is used when someone is asked how something is such as service or food

Usage:- This food you made is so mast.

 Bakwaas----------this term is pretty self-explanatory

Usage:- She is talking bakwas.

Ji ---------------- it is used as a suffix to show respect towards others. sometimes it is used sarcastically depending on the intonation.

 Usage:- Hello sir ji.  / Ok ji

Example:- The stock market crash might lead to financial meltdown.

Bloody------- it places emphasis on a comment or another word

Example:-  That's bloody brilliant / Oh bloody hell.

K------- A thousand of a currency

Example:- It costs 10k.

Razz ------ annoy

Example:- The pupils are razzing the teacher.

Lit ------ When something is very good, enjoyable, or exciting, you can say it's

Example:- Dude, the party last night was lit! Where were you?

To ghost someone ------ When you cut off communication with someone you're no longer interested in.

Example:- OMG! Did you hear Ashish ghosted Abhishek?

Tea ------ When someone is “spilling the tea”, it means they are gossiping.

Mood ----- Used to express something that is relatable.

Example:- - Ugh! I wish I was in Bora Bora right now.

To clap back----- To respond to another person's criticism.

Salty ----- You can say someone is salty when they get upset or angry over something minor.

when  speaking casually.They are a little like slang. we almost never use them in writing.
